Day 4
Everything is going well at the Perkins' home, other than we all miss Jim. It's going to be a long 3 weeks, and it's only been 4 days so far. We miss him especially in the evenings when he is usually home from work. This weekend will be long and hard, but things go on as usual. The boys have two birthday parties on Saturday evening and the ladies at our church are giving a baby shower for Kellie on Sunday afternoon. Those will keep us busy for a few hours. It is really sweet of them to give us a shower, especially since we are doing good to make it to church once or twice a month on Sunday morning. With me flying a lot of weekends and us going out of town (usually to Blakely) some weekends when I'm off, we don't get to church as much as we should. That is another thing on my "to do" list for this year. I want to get more involved in and committed to our church. It's always there for us, but I don't feel we are always there for it.
The boys are doing great with Kellie. Blake has changed two or three diapers. Alex tends to find his way into another room when it's diaper changing time. We need to work on that this weekend. They both like feeding her and playing with her, at least when it doesn't interfere with them playing with their friends. They are each really good with her and make great big brothers. They are being a big help around here while Jim is gone.
Last night I made Kellie really mad. I actually had the gall to lay her on her belly on the floor. She thinks that is the worst thing. She hates to be laid on her belly. Well, Mommy's will is greater than hers. I layed her down and then I layed infront of her on my belly looking at her. She got so mad that she was kicking and screaming. She kept on with the kicking and screaming until she was actually scooting across the blanket. Everytime she would get really mad she would move a couple of inches. I guess if that is what its going to take to get her to start crawling, then she's going to be pitching a fit everyday.
Last night she sat up in her bathtub by herself for the first time. She has always taken a bath or shower with me or Jim. She has gotten very strong. She sits up by herself and plays on the floor for long periods of time. She will stand up when I'm pulling her pants back on after changing her and when I stand her on my lap while playing or talking. Her hair has grown a lot since we brought her home. I guess it is all this good food and formula she is eating. She goes back for her "2 month" appt. the middle of March.
Blake had baseball practice last night. They are going to have a tournament next weekend. The boys are out of school all of next week for winter break. It would be great if we could go visit Jim in Asia for the week, but it would be too hard with Kellie. We are all hoping to go to Texas to visit Uncle Jeff and Aunt Valerie. We were planning to go on Monday, but the flights are now full and oversold. Now we are going to try for later in the week. We are watching the flight counts.
We have talked to Jim each day, usually in the morning and at night. Good thing we have Bellsouth unlimited long distance with their cheap international rates. We'll see just how cheap when the bill gets here. He has his laptop with him, so we email him at his work address. He is back in Tokyo today. His friends will start coming in tomorrow evening for the class. They all meet on Sunday, then start their traveling for their class . He will have pretty much all day Saturday by himself. I'm sure he will be glad to see his friends.
We'll keep you (epecially Jim) posted over the weekend.
