Catching Up

Kids on the pier during our beach weekend.

I've been told recently that I'm lagging on my blogging. Here's to catching up since my last blog entry.
*Blake became a TEENAGER on Sept. 28th. He had a party with several boys spending the night over here. I no longer have any little boys...both of my boys are much taller than I am.
*Fall baseball ended
*On Oct. 7th Blake got suspended from school for letting a boy sitting a few rows back from him borrow his broken plastic school ruler on the school bus. Blake passed it two rows back to a friend who then passed it over to the boy who asked for it. This boy then threatened a boy seated with him that if he didn't quit pushing him into the window he was going to "shank" him with the pointed end of the ruler. (We just found out on Monday that the threat was made in self-defense...not that it changes anything for Blake.) The SRO officer at the school has pressed criminal charges against Blake for having a weapon on the school bus. This is a FELONY crime in which Blake had to go to the sheriff's office to be fingerprinted, had a hearing this past Monday where he pleaded not guilty, and has a TRIAL next Monday. This is zero tolerance gone too far! I'll keep you posted on what happens next week.
*Jim stepped out of the kitchen door into the garage and mis-stepped, fell, and twisted his ankle very badly...all the same day this happened with Blake. His regular doctor put him in a "boot" to keep his ankle stable. After a week he still wasn't able to put any weight on it and went to the orthopaedic. He put Jim into a cast up to his knee for a week, then an air boot. He is finally able to walk on it again without anything extra and without much pain.
*Oct. 12th we had a birthday party for Mema at the Miller's home.
*Mema, Julie, Sean, and Paige joined us at the beach house for the weekend of the 24th. We all had a great time. The weather was beautiful.
**Beware**Alex got his driver's license on October 30th.
*We went down to Columbus for Sean's birthday last Saturday. The kids all had a great time.

*I will be having hand (thumb joint) surgery on Friday. I'll be out of work for about three months. I'll be in a hard cast for 6 weeks, then a removable cast for another 6 wks while I start therapy.
Please keep all of us in your prayers. This has been (and still is) a tough time for our family.
