Amazon Jim, 2

I just got off of the blog after posting about Jim and the phone rang and guess who??? You got it! Jim. He said that his boat ride was about an hour long miserable steam bath. It is sooo hot down there. They are staying in a lodge that has semi-air conditioning and a fan in each room. The rooms are nowhere near cool, but its cooler inside than outside. (He likes the air at home to be set between 65-67 year round.) Jim said that his "shower" is out on his deck and there is no hot water. The monkeys are really friendly. A friend got pictures of monkeys climbing on Jim while he was sitting on the deck. He said they are very cute and even a mommy monkey with a baby on her back came to the deck. If you sit still they will climb and play on you, but if you move they will run away. The lodge people said to be sure to keep their doors closed, because the monkeys will come into the lodge and its hard to catch them to put them out. The lodge has about four miles of "trails" through the Amazon. He and a friend rented a golf cart and rode around for a while. He was getting ready to go try out his shower and go to bed. That is after he catches the big cricket that is trying to share his bed. I told him I hope he catches it, or its going to be churping all night. For someone who usually sleeps under two quilts, a thick comforter, and a sheet, I don't think he's going to be getting much sleep tonight. With you knowing Jim you can just hear him saying that "Its so hot I'm going to have to sleep butt-naked on top of the covers". Luckily for him they are leaving the lodge tomorrow, and going back to the city of Manaus and staying until Tuesday. I guess I'll go upstairs now and crawl under all of my covers in my nice, very cool room and sleep "snug as a bug in a rug"---at least until Kellie wakes up!

Our church took a mission trip to Manaus last year. That is pretty neat that Jim is visiting there now.

Another thought...
Sleeping in Brazil sounds a lot like sleeping at Camp Osborne with the Boy Scouts.

I feel sorry for Jim. Being too hot makes it difficult to do anything. I too like the cool temperatures.

Many years ago a lady told us that she liked to keep the air conditioner cool enough so she could sleep under her electric blanket in the summer. Sounds like Jim is like her.
